Getting To London
By Plane you can fly to Heathrow, City Airport, Gatwick, Stanstead and even Luton. Luton airport is the farthest away of all 5... When you are booking your flight make sure to take into consideration that some airports are further away than others and add time and expense onto your journey. A great tool for calculating this is Transport For London's Journey Planner.
By Train London is very easily and quickly reached from Mainland Europe on the Eurostar. Tickets are often cheaper than a plane and you arrive in central London at St. Pancras Station which is only a 20 minute direct train journey to Herne Hill. From other parts of the UK check National Rail for timetables and prices.
By Coach London is accessed by numerous bus carriers. National Express and Megabus are two of the main ones.
Getting Around London
London is a very well-serviced city and public transportation is often the quickest and cheapest way to get around it. We have busses, the Underground Rail (also called "The Tube") and the Overground Rail, as well as Trams and even riverboats. The best way to access all of these is to get an Oyster Card! Oyster cards work on all London busses, underground and train lines and are the easiest and most cost-effective way to travel around the city. You can buy an oyster card at every train and underground station as well as any London Travel Information Centre. You must pay a deposit of 5 for your card but that is refunded on return of the card to any of these places. Take your card with you everywhere you go.... More details HERE
