Every month we will shift focus depending on the ebb and flow of the year's current.
April/May is AmCab (American Cabaret) Combinations for a Traditional Set!
The traditional American Cabaret Set is a 3/5/7 or 9 part set that developed in the restaurants and nightclubs of the USA over the 1950's and 60's. It has a specific structure and musical flow resulting from the immigration patterns and cultural landscape of the USA during this time. Each week we will work on combinations/ short choreographies to classic songs and include a brief discussion about the focus of the week. Each focus will be a different part of the full set:
Week #1 ENTRANCE song Sehnat Longa
Week #2 VEIL song Miserlou
Week #3 CANE song Bambi Saidi
Week #4 SWORD song Aman Doktor
Week #5 KASHLIMAR song Rompi Rompi
*Classes will include optional cymbal patterns for dancers working at home*
Students will have access to video recordings of all classes until June 30
This class was developed for everyone with an existing foundation in bellydance technique. *Please Note - Beginners and dancers who want to review their basic technique should attend at least 1 rotation of the Level 1 Class*
Develop technical excellence in bellydance through higher level training with Anna. Dancers of all levels will be given challenges and concepts specifically tailored to their journey. Students should be prepared to focus on themselves as well as the space they hold in a class and be ready to inspire and be inspired!
All classes include a strong warm up followed by a series of dance combinations focusing on the movement theme of the week.
Classes end with a structured improvisation followed by a cool-down stretch. Video recordings of all classes are included to help you practise at home in your own time.
*Finger cymbal patterns can be given so make sure to bring yours!*
